A first date can often feel like a job interview, and rapidly firing off questions to each is often just the trick to ward off the dreaded awkward silence.

It's also an opportunity to see if you and your date are destined to go to music festivals and artsy trips, or if they're more of an adrenaline junkie.

For those who don't mess around, it could also be a chance to get some really important topics on the table - about children, politics and religion.

Reddit users came together and collected some of the most prudent questions to ask on a first date.

Some of them are serious and existential...others, not so much.

Here they are:

1. Are you married?

2. Do you have any allergies?

3. Do you have any children?

4. Do you believe in dinosaurs?

5. Do you prefer cats or dogs?

6. What do you do for a living?

7. What are your thoughts on Donald Trump?

8. What do you like to do in your spare time?

9. What are you reading?

10. Do you believe in God?

11. What is your goal in life?

and finally (if all ends well)...

12. When can I see you again?
