Moment man punches seagull as it tries to grab his food

One man has shown that he really does have incredibly impressive reflexes after an encounter with a seagull which attempted to steal his food.

In a video shared widely online, a man is seen buying food from a place called the The Seafood Shack on a lovely summer’s day and, as expected, looks rather happy about the purchase.

But, unbeknown to him, a seagull has been stalking his food – with the bird ready to pounce at the first opportunity.

As the man walks back towards his friend, who is operating the camera, the seagull swoops in to swipe the food which, according to the Reddit title of the video, is prawns.

But the man clearly isn’t willing to give his food up so easily and, in retaliation, swings a hefty left hook at the bird and punches it in the stomach.

Obviously caught off guard, the seagull admits defeat and flies off, leaving the man to carry on as if the bizarre altercation never happened.

After squaring up to the seagull, the man can be seen giving into a small, amused smile (while his friend was probably astounded at what they had just filmed).

This clip is a few years old but has gone viral again on social media after being posted into the Reddit’s Public Freakout page by user wiliammm19999.

The clip has since garnered over 64,000 upvotes and thousands of comments from people reacting to the encounter.

One person said: “There’s like 2 prawns in that cup. I wouldn’t share either.”

“I knew this dude was British even before this comment made me realize there was sound to it,” another person wrote.

Someone else replied: “Perfectly practiced manoeuvre that the gull had pulled a thousand times... he never saw the punch coming.”

“This guy look like the quintessential British dad,” a fourth person responded.

We’re hoping the bird wasn’t hurt by the man’s punch – though it might make the gull think twice next time before swooping in on someone’s lunch.
