Losing a wallet is a nightmare for a whole host of reasons. First of all you have to cancel all your bank cards, and what about ID?

Now the Covid pandemic has added a new element into the mix: vaccination cards. These mini certificates proving you’ve had the jab have become prized possessions in the US, allowing holders access to certain venues and, in some cases, to travel.

Luckily, when one woman had her belongings stolen this was one item she didn’t have to replace.

The thief was apparently considerate enough to remove the card from her wallet and leave it behind. How thoughtful.

TikTok user Katie Reagan documented her plight on the platform, posting a video showing her car windows smashed in with detritus scattered all over the floor.

She explained in a caption to the clip: “When the guy who breaks into your car is nice enough to take your vaccination card out of your wallet and leave it for you,” before adding: “love him for that.”

Her post racked up more than 800,000 views and 140,000 likes within a day, as fellow TikTokers mused on the thief’s motivations.

“He wanted to make sure you still get your free Krispy Kreme,” one joked (vaccination cards give you access to a host of goodies in the States, in case you didn’t know).

“They say chivalry is dead,” commented another.

A third said: “I sense this is the beginning of a love story,” as others suggested the thief’s “thoughtfulness” implied they were “flirting” with Reagan.

A fourth pointed out that, although people were assuming it was a “he” there was no indication of the culprit’s sex. They wrote: “Maybe it was a girl not a guy! Would explain the consideration.”

Others shared their own, similar stories.

“The guy who broke [into my car] only broke the back windows so me and my friend could still drive home without sitting on glass,” one wrote.

“Once I was in the process of moving so everything was in my car [and] it got broken into and they took everything but my dad’s rosary,” said another.

“This happened to me but they took out my baby’s ultrasound,” a third commented.

All we can say is, we’d still be annoyed at having to cancel all our bank cards and using our passport as ID for weeks...
