Man receives bizarre text from Tinder date’s mum - but it’s weirder than it first seems

As we all know, dating is nerve-wracking. Trying to keep an eye out for red flags, the butterflies in your tummy before meeting someone for the first time, and trying to gauge if the other person feels the same can feel both frightening and exciting.

However, one TikToker has perhaps won the award for the most dramatic dating story of the century after being scolded by a Tinder date’s “mother” after things didn’t work out.

In a three-part series and a date storytime, TikToker @trustmeimaexpert tells a wild tale about how he was contacted by his date’s mum — but her messages weren’t what they seemed.

In the first video, he said he received a text late at night from a date’s supposed mother who said she was “devastated” the pair weren’t compatible. She went on to demand he “enter into a relationship” with her son and “immediately begin planning a wedding”.

He replied to ask if it’s a joke and added: “I don’t have any interest in dating your son. He said a bunch of things that were honestly really strange and off-putting and I don’t feel any form of connection between us.”

The mother fired back saying “there is no joking when it comes to my son’s love.” Horrifyingly, she said her son has pictures of the TikToker in his room and is keen to marry as soon as possible. She added: “We will be coming by your place of work tomorrow to discuss things in person and present you with a ring we have purchased.”

Frightened, the TikToker asked them to not come near his office. He also said he does not plan on marrying anyone for a long time due to the recent loss of his fiancé.

The mother replied to say although she is sorry to hear that he lost his fiancé, “your focus now needs to be to ignore the past and focus on what you need to do to make my son happy.”

In a follow-up video, he said although they didn’t end up coming to the office, he did receive another bizarre text message from his date’s mother using a different phone number.

The message lambasted him for making the initial TikTok, with the mother claiming to “have notations in [her] notebook of each person who commented on said video and [she] will be taking proper legal action against them” too if the TikToker didn’t remove the video “right this moment”.

She went on to say that he needs to “correct [his] mistakes” and give her son a new vehicle worth at least $35,000 to make amends.

His pithy response read: “Go f*** a cactus.”

At this point, he assumed someone was messing with him and reached out to a friend who works at the local police department. The friend shared the texts with a detective, who later called the TikToker.

Apparently, the detective found that this isn’t the first time the family have done something like this.

The detective said he was familiar with the mother and son as three or four months ago the mother did the same thing to a man who rejected her daughter. Instead of requesting a car, however, she requested a house on the lake.

He said the detective told him that the mother and sister took a “probationary plea to get out of jail” after allegedly being charged with harassment and stalking.

In a third video, the TikToker said the mother’s probation officer found no evidence of text messages or the TikTok app on her phone.

Apparently, the son spoofed his mother’s number and messaged him “just to mess with [him]”.

“He’s just mad that I rejected him,” the TikToker said.

In a final video after lots of requests from his audience, he finally spilt the tea on what the date was actually like.

After chatting for two to three weeks having initially met on Tinder, the pair arranged a dinner date at an oyster bar as they both said they like seafood.

When he met his date, the TikToker felt weirded out when his date said he looked like his uncle before adding “that’s both exciting and attractive”.

Despite feeling creeped out, he proceeded with the date — but it was all downhill from there.

“I’m pretty sure this dude was a couple of crayons shy of a full box… I had to explain to this man that chicken tenders are not seafood,” he said.

The TikToker convinced him to try oysters, but every time his date slurped an oyster he made eye contact and uttered off-colour remarks.

After the dinner, the TikToker said he didn’t feel a connection. His date replied: “Oh my God, my mom is not going to like hearing about this” before asking “where are you going to take me to suck my d***?”.

Oof.

The TikToker’s videos went viral, with the first instalment receiving over 650,000 views.

Commenting on the first video, a TikTok user wrote: “Some people don’t even bother with red flags. They put out red strobe lights.”

Several people correctly predicted that it was the date pretending to be his mother.

Another wrote: “OMFG, no way this is real. I’m crying from both being terrified and laughing.”

Another user joked: “So happy for you, I have my outfit for the wedding and I will be coming to your place of work to get further details of the event.”

It looks like this TikToker had a seriously lucky escape.
