American super model Emily Ratajkowski has shared her disappointment after being photoshopped on the cover of a magazine.

The 26-year-old appears on the front cover of this month's Madame Figaro, a French magazine supplement.

However, upon seeing the cover, Ratajkowski noticed something odd about her breasts and lips. The two areas had been doctored digitally.

Quite why they felt the need to alter someone with such striking looks is a little puzzling but Ratajkowski couldn't hide her disappointment in a Instagram post.

In the post the model hits out at the magazine writing:

Everyone is uniquely beautiful in their own ways. We all have insecurities about the things that make us different from a typical ideal of beauty.

I, like so many of us, try every day to work past those insecurities, I was extremely disappointed to see my lips and breasts altered in Photoshop on this cover.

I hope the fashion industry will finally learn to stop trying to stifle the things that make us unique and instead begin to celebrate individuality.

Her honesty and criticism has won support from many of her followers on the images sharing platform.

Ratajkowski regularly advocates body positivity and shares messages and images on Twitter promoting female body and sexual positivity.

She is the latest female celebrity to hit out at magazines for photoshopping their size or appearance.

In October 2015, actress Zendaya poster side-by-side pictures of herself, showing how Modeliste had altered her pictures.

Kerry Washington has also criticised AdWeek for the same issue.
