Turkish politicians just can't stop brawling in parliament

A physical confrontation between politicians has occurred for the second time in a week in Turkey's parliament with one falling down a short flight of stairs.

Members from the ruling and opposition parties exchanged punches yesterday in a clash over a controversial bill to give police officers more power against protesters.

A similar incident occurred on Tuesday evening leaving five people injured and two left with head wounds from a "ceremonial gavel", according to the Guardian.

The opposition party strongly opposes the bill fearing it will effectively lead to a police state under the increasingly authoritarian president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
