Selecting a maid-of-honour can be a tough decision for brides-to-be, having to choose between close friends and relatives.

So you can imagine the predicament this Reddit user was in when her older sister decided to throw money into the mix.

Under the username Richbiche, the bride-to-be wrote told the Reddit community that her older sister had offered her $10,000 to be Richebiche's maid of honour, instead of their younger sister Anne.

While Richebiche continued to explain that her "older sister is a terrible person", that they aren't close, and it's her only wedding day, she said that she didn't know what to do.

She wrote:

It's a lot of money for my fiance and me.

Reddit users were quick to offer their advice.

Richebiche thanked her commenters for the advice but said:

I'm looking for a valid reason to not take this money for my family. I don't want to do this, I want my wedding exactly how I want it. Everyone is saying I'm ignoring advice, I'm not. Everyone is just saying all the stuff I'm already telling myself. Nothing (other than the taxes and frivolous lawsuit) really seems to be more important than taking care of myself and my family. At the end of the day my loved ones are my loved ones.

It's unknown whether Richbiche has taken her sister's money.
