Ivanka calls Trump 'daddy,' and he likes it

President Donald Trump's relationship with his daughter Ivanka has been heavily scrutinised since they both entered the White House.

Possibly because she wasn't elected to be there, or qualified to sit in G20 meetings, among other things.

Mr Trump has complained about accusations of nepotism on a public platform before - unsurprisingly, it's never gone down well.

The Daily Show for example, implied via a slip of the tongue that their relationship was incestuous in a section scrutinising their ethical misdemeanours of office.

Anyway, Donald Trump, 71, spoke about taxes in North Dakota on Wednesday and went off script as he so often does.

He began talking about Ivanka, and invited the 35-year-old shoe designer turned advisor to the president on stage.

Sometimes they'll say 'you know he can't be that bad a guy, look at Ivanka.

She said, 'Dad, can I go with you?' She actually said, 'Daddy, can I go with you?' I like that, right?

Twitter's reaction to his pride in the word "Daddy", was uniform:

The reason it resonated so strongly with the public is thanks in part to a bizarre series of comments over the years by the President, seemingly sexualising his own daughter.

In 2013 he was asked what he had in common with Ivanka.

Ivanka replied

Either real estate or golf.

Donald replied:

Well, I was going to say sex, but I can’t relate that to her.

Why would a father ever say sex?

In 2006, he said on national television, that if she weren't his daughter, he'd be dating her:

Yeah, she’s really something, and what a beauty, that one.

If I weren’t happily married and, ya know, her father...

In a 2004 radio interview with Howard Stern he said he didn't mind him calling her a "piece of ass":

Trump:

My daughter is beautiful, Ivanka-

Stern:

By the way, your daughter-

Trump:

She's beautiful.

Stern:

Can I say this? A piece of ass.

Trump:

Yeah.

In a 2006 interview with the same host he engaged with the same host in a discussion of whether she'd had breast implants, as Stern commented she "looks more voluptuous than ever":

Trump replied:

She's actually always been very voluptuous.

She's tall, she's almost 6 feet tall and she's been, she's an amazing beauty.
