A St Patrick’s Day without endless pints of Guinness in a heaving pub may feel like a travesty but it’s the hand Covid’s dealt us.

Lockdown means that colourful parades and parties are off the cards, as people across the world are forced to celebrate the festivities at home.

This time last year, the coronavirus pandemic had just been declared by the World Health Organisation, and Boris Johnson was warning Britons against a night out on the tiles. Twelve months later... still no joy.

Fans of the annual fun-fest have, inevitably, been venting their frustrations online with memes, sketches and nuggests of nostalgia.
