Paul Joseph Watson, Youtuber and contributor to right-wing website Infowars, has had a difficult couple of days with his followers.
After Donald Trump announced a military strike on an airbase in Syria, Watson tweeted that he was officially 'off the Trump train'. His reason being that Trump was a "deep state / Neo-con puppet".
This didn't go down with Watson's audience, who follow him for his rant style videos, whose titles include: "Shia LaBeouf is a complete idiot," "Leonardo DiCaprio is a complete idiot" and "Snoop Dogg is a complete idiot".
Following a sharp drop in his Twitter followers, Watson did a quick about face and reassured people that he was still a passenger on the 'Trump train'.
The entire saga was spotted by author Christoph Rehage (@Crehage), who tweeted Watson's digital epiphany.
First there was the rejection of Trump, whom Watson has praised regularly.
Then, came the realisation that his audience were only there for one thing - which as it transpires is unquestioning loyalty to Donald Trump.
Finally, there was a U-turn, presumably in order to regain some lost ground.
It can be a slippery slope down from the dizzying heights of alt-right Twitter fame.
I'm sure there are some people who respected you for sticking to your guns Paul.
Until... You know, you didn't.
