This actress is calling out Hollywood's ridiculous beauty standards

Tatiana Maslany is a Canadian actress most famous for her role in the series Orphan Black.

The 29-year-old has recently spoken out about sexism in Hollywood in an interview with People magazine, explaining it is something that she has experienced often:

Like being told, 'Let's not talk about that, sweetheart,' if I have an issue with being hit on by a 50-year-old when I was 17 and on set... It's never ending. Being put into this little outfit that showed my midriff in a scene where I'm supposed to be grieving the death of a family member, and it's like, 'Make sure that her belly button is showing' – it's just pathetic. It's so pathetic.

As well as come-ons, Maslany has also been asked to change her appearance "and wax my moustache, which I refused to do".

Maslany adds that while she will make changes to her appearance if a part calls for it, she thinks a change is coming:

People are too upset, people are too pissed off and too many strong voices are now being heard.

Tatiana Maslany: we salute you.
