Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta has big issue players all agree on

According to reviews on Steam, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta players have highlighted one big issue in particular with gameplay.

Modern Warfare 4 sees the Call of Duty franchise return to the iconic sub-series, with the last entry in the sub-series being Modern Warfare III which released in 2023.

We've since had Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 in consecutive years after Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III before that.

The beta opened for the first time on Friday (21 August) and runs through to Tuesday (25 August) where players who have pre-ordered the game or have access to certain codes are able to try it out and give feedback.

And a lot of players have highlighted one glaring issue in particular with gameplay.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta currently sits at 'mostly negative' according to 3,329 Steam reviews at the time of writing and the biggest issue most players seem to have highlighted is the aim assist being way too generous.

Aim assist is what it says on the tin - it's a feature for controllers which helps players track enemies by slowing down aim near targets and gently pulling the aim to those enemies when moving.

However players have noted the aim assist snaps too easily on enemies to the point where enemies can be tracked through walls with the assist helping to aim towards the head and upper body, making kills a lot easier.

This twinned with a reported short TTK (time-to-kill) is causing headaches for players online - but this is a beta and these sort of issues are designed to be found now so they can be fixed.

Developers have confirmed they are continuing to make tweaks and refine gameplay ahead of the game's full launch on 23 October. The open beta weekend starts on Friday (28 August) through to Tuesday 1 September.
