Ocasio-Cortez refused to stand for Trump at the State of the Union and the internet loved it

The annual State of the Union address proved to be one of the most memorable on record, but not necessarily because of what the president said.

While Trump's speech went down like a damp squib, there was lots to enjoy and appreciate elsewhere, such as Trump's crooked tie, Nancy Pelosi clapping and Joshua Trump falling asleep.

Yet, in further proof that she is the only shining light in the hellhole of 2019, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stole the show with an act of defiance against Trump.

In the same moment that Pelosi got to her feet to applaud the POTUS, Ocasio-Cortez did the exact opposite, remaining in her seat and adopting a stony and unemotive stare.

Twitter soon noticed this moment and they couldn't get enough of the disdain etched across the face of the 29-year-old Congresswoman.

Imagine how powerful an Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi tag team would be.

Things didn't go well all evening for Ocasio-Cortez who was brutally left hanging on high five which is just too painful to watch.

Although Ocasio-Cortez's stoic reaction to Trump has caught the headlines, let's not overlook another important statement that she made on Tuesday.

The Congresswoman wore a badge featuring the image of Jakelin Caal, a seven-year-old Guatemalan boy who died whilst trying to cross the US/Mexico border last year.
