A woman who was exercising in a park in California was told to go back home to “whatever Asian country you belong in”.

The full incident was captured on camera. The woman who was exercising set up her camera to film herself on steps in Wilson Park.

The video has been viewed over tens of thousands of times and was posted by a friend of the person who took the video.

The incident starts when an elderly woman bumps into the woman exercising, who mutters under her breath, “Jesus”.

For the next five minutes, the older woman rants and raves at her, yelling about everything from the fact that the woman was using the steps to exercise to the clothes that the younger woman is wearing.

The older woman can be heard saying,

Listen to me. We don't play games here anymore. Next time you talk to me like that you're going to get your ass kicked by my family. They're gonna (expletive) you up.

She then told the younger woman to go back to “whatever (expletive) Asian country that you come from,” and says that she does not belong there. She even tells her to put the video on Facebook.

Another user posted a video of what seemed like another encounter with the same woman, where she can be heard making more racist remarks to someone else. The clothing and hat that the woman is wearing are the same.

Police have said that they are investigating the first incident.

The mayor of Torrance, the city in California where the incident took place, said that “public safety is a high priority", and that “all visitors to our open spaces should always feel safe and free to exercise while practicing social distancing.”
