After Donald Trump was roundly condemned for his response to the violent Charlottesville riots last weekend, the entire membership of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities has resigned.
After the protest involving neo-Nazis and white supremacists, Mr Trump said there was blame on “many sides” for the violence that lead to one woman sadly losing her life.
The mass resignation letter stated:
Reproach and censure in the strongest possible terms are necessary following your support of the hate groups and terrorists who killed and injured fellow Americans in Charlottesville.
The Administration’s refusal to quickly and unequivocally condemn the cancer of hatred only further emboldens those who wish America ill.
It goes on to state:
Ignoring your hateful rhetoric would have made us complicit in your words and actions. We took a patriotic oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
The letter has five clear paragraphs and then a sign-off featuring 16 of its 17 members.
And people have spotted a hidden message: the first letter of each paragraph spells out “resist”...
Reproach
Elevating
Speaking
Ignoring
Supremacy
Thank
Incredible.
