The expressions on the faces of these world leaders as Ivanka sits with Trump pretty much says it all

Ivanka Trump attended the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan, with her father Donald Trump, and it goes without saying that the whole thing was truly bizarre.

White House advisor Ivanka was at the summit to take centre stage at a side event, which was calling on world leaders to prioritise empowering women.

Not only did she sit alongside her father and Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe at the special event on Women's Empowerment, but she also appeared in an extremely awkward photograph with the whole raft of world leaders, whose faces appeared to speak a thousand words.

Sharing the photograph to Twitter, journalist Jeff Yang wrote:

Ha, the reaction expressions of the world leaders in this incredibly embarrassing photo

He then shared a selection of other close up shots, each singling out a leader's face.

Some wondered how people would react if it were Malia Obama in the photograph.

Or even if it were Hillary Clinton with Chelsea.

Was this... bring your kid to work day?

Is this... nepotism in a picture?

Speaking at the event, Ivanka said:

If we propose bold solutions and challenge the limits of the past, we'll empower women to lift their families out of poverty, to grow the economies in their countries and to deliver greater peace and prosperity to millions around the world.

Despite the noble words, many critics have specifically pointed to issues such as the Trump administration's support for restrictive abortion policies, including cutting funding to 'any foreign-based organisation that performs, promotes, or offers information on abortion', reports the Business Insider.
