Tory MP Rory Stewart was blanked by Larry the Cat outside Downing Street and the internet loved it

Drug confessions, weird taxidermy reimaginings of the leadership hopefuls, viral Brexit videos and a surprisingly humane Tory campaign video: the leadership contest is certainly an eventful one.

And overseeing Downing Street as an ever-present guard, is Larry the Cat – and it seems that he doesn’t like MP Rory Stewart.

The secretary of state for international development arrived at No.10 for a cabinet meeting and he noticed Larry sitting in front of the door.

Stewart grinned at the cameras, crouched down and began petting the cat, but he lasted scant seconds before Larry turned his head and stalked away.

The cameras captured Larry's glorious cold shoulder

People found the exchange hilarious

Seriously, look at Stewart's discomfort:

Others thought it's the beginning of a great, Newt Scamander-type friendship

In the end, the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office cleared up the exchange on Twitter, insisting it isn't "personal"
