In the wake of seemingly relentless mass shootings in the US, it’s easy to feel helpless.

Lady Gaga, who is known for participating in activism, posted to her Facebook page on Friday that she would be doing her part by partnering with to provide funding to classrooms in the three cities most recently affected by gun violence.

In a note, she said that her Born This Way Foundation would be joining with Donors Choose to fund 162 classrooms across the affected cities, including 125 in El Paso, 23 in Gilroy, and 14 in Dayton.

The 'A Star is Born' actress wrote in full:

Today, I find hope in the work of and I’m proud to partner with them and with Born This Way Foundation to fully fund the classroom project needs in Dayton, OH, El Paso, TX, and Gilroy, CA. 14 classrooms in Dayton, 125 classrooms in El Paso, and 23 classrooms in Gilroy will now have access to the support they need to inspire their students to work together and bring their dreams to life” she posted after sending her condolences to the victims.

Surviving and recovering from these tragedies also means prioritizing your mental health and checking in on your loved ones. If you’re struggling, please be brave and tell a trusted someone.

Don’t be scared to ask for help, I beg you. If you see a loved one struggling, please be brave and reach out, remind them it’s ok to not be ok, and listen to them. We cannot turn away from ourselves. We cannot turn away from our loved ones. We need each other. Don’t turn away.

America has been gripped in a state of disarray following the twin shootings in El Paso and Dayton on the same day. There have been endless calls for the Trump administration to bring in stronger gun laws but as it stands the only compromise that the president has been willing to make is if stronger immigration laws are also implemented.

Prior to the shootings, a gunman killed four people and injured 13 more after opening fire at a garlic festival in Gilroy, California. There have already been more than 200 mass shootings in the US in 2019 alone.
