Finnish hard rocker Mr Lordi receives his second jab in full costume

Anti-vaxxers are doing a pretty good job now of getting themselves noticed by spouting conspiracy theory nonsense on any platform that will listen to them but they're not as noticeable as a lead singer of a heavy metal band turning up to get his vaccine in his full regalia.

Tomi Petteri Putaansuu, better known as Mr Lordi, is the 47-year-old frontman hard rock Finnish band Lordi and got his second dose of the Covid vaccine at a pop-up centre in Rovaniemi on Sunday.

And he truly looked the part while doing it.

If you haven’t seen Lordi before don’t worry it’s just an outfit. He doesn’t actually look like this...

Speaking to Finnish news site Yle, he said: “They put a big needle in my arm, and that’s exactly why I came here,” which is a very metal thing to say.

If you are an avid fan of Eurovision, you might remember Lordi from the 2006 edition of the competition where they shocked the continent and won the whole thing with ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah.’

As well as being the frontman of one of Finland’s most popular musical acts, Mr Lordi is also a special effect make-up artist and sculptor and designs the bands costumes out of foam latex and other materials.

He’s clearly a talented man but, most importantly, he is fully vaccinated and we love him for that.
