The latest trailer for the new Star Wars movie has unleashed memes

Star Wars fans were gifted with a first look at the long-awaited finale to the Skywalker story, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The short teaser was filled with memeable opportunities and people took advantage of them.

'Dark Rey' being one of them

Fans were impressed with 'Dark Rey' and can't wait to see more of her (If indeed it is Rey)

Others are worried

One fan had a Pokemon theory about Dark Rey

Jedis use natural crystals to make their lightsabers whereas the Sith used red-shaded synthetic crystals, which makes a blade more powerful when powered by the dark side of the force.

This has led the internet to assume that Rey has gone dark.

John Boyega, who plays Finn in the movies, didn't help matters when asked about the colour change, jokingly saying:

The red? It’s a glow stick thing. Rey likes to go out, enjoy times at a party.

Speaking of the lightsaber, which folds up...

It's a logical fallacy

Why would it even need to be folded? It's made up of a plasma blade, powered by a kyber crystal. It can be turned on and off at will
