When it comes to culturally important giants of the noughties, the first name that springs to mind for those of us of a certain age is none other than Crazy Frog.

He once plagued our tellies on ringtone adverts (remember when we used to buy ringtones? Or perhaps that’s me showing my age....) and featured in the viral mashup of the Beverly Hills Cop theme tune which beat Coldplay in a famous battle to top the charts in 2005.

Now, in the year of 2021, on the eve of his big comeback, some people are only just noticing that the cheeky frog had a certain NSFW detail on display — his “ding ding” was out.

The Crazy Frog chatter on Twitter was sparked after the mischievous amphibian announced he’ll be making a comeback on December 10th.

It’s hoped that the frog will find a new market on TikTok, and it seems he’s already a step ahead of the game.

TikTokers, some of whom have millions of followers, danced to the infectious tune earlier this year:

@edwinmendozza

Like por qué mont se emocionó al último😂

¿Quien se equivocó? 😂 @soydanielaalfaro @kimberlyshantal @queenbuenrostro @kevinachutegui

But back to the most important question. It’s clearly on display in new media from the frog, but why do some people remember him without the genitalia?

Speaking to the BBC, president of A&R for Sony Music Wolfgang Boss said that due to controversy and complaints, they had to edit out the amphibian’s appendage.

Boss however promised that the Crazy Frog’s new video will feature him as he was always meant to be — penis included.

A true Christmas miracle.
