This viral picture of Super Mario will give you nightmares

Since 1985 Super Mario has been one of the most recognisable faces in pop culture history.

His red cap, blue dungarees, white gloves and bushy moustache are now iconic - and it's hard to imagine the heroic plumber looking any other way.

Now, if you don't want to ruin your childhood and permanently scar your mind, then we would advise that you don't read any further because something truly terrible has happened.

An individual on Twitter has not only removed all of Mario's hair but they have guaranteed you nightmares for the rest of your life.

Why would someone do this? Why burden us with this terrible image? Isn't the world bad enough as it is right now?

The horror of this image has seen the tweet go viral and people are very, very disturbed.

One blessed soul did try to fix the situation but it didn't really make it any better.
