Actor apologises for licking Canadian journalist live on air

A comedian who licked a CBC journalist who had be reporting on a comedy event in Toronto has apologised and called himself an “idiot.”

The incident took place live on air and was watched by many Canadian viewers, and it was eventually posted online where everyone was angered by the “assault.”

Chris Glover, the reporter involved, had made multiple attempts to move away from actor and comedian, identified as Boyd Banks, who made kissing gestures from behind his back and licked the reporter’s neck and ear multiple times.

The network have called the incident unacceptable, writing:

Chris Glover showed remarkable composure and professionalism in the face of a very awkward situation. Unfortunately, the trend of harassing reporters continues and is something we take very seriously.

“We have protocols in place for our journalists working in the field covering public events. Simply stated, these incidents are as troubling as they are unacceptable.”

Boyd apologised and suggested he was seeking treatment for mental health issues. He said:

There is no excuse for my behaviour last night.

I’m guilty of everything.

Glover recalled the incident to his colleague, Farrah Merali and said he could sense Banks standing behind him.

I could feel something on the back of my neck and on the back of my head … I didn't really know what it was.

Looking back, I knew that it was his tongue and he was licking me.

Glover added that he could smell alcohol on the man’s breath, and being touched like that made him feel deeply uncomfortable. He will be filing a police complaint.
