The day of the year your partner is most likely to cheat on you, according to an extra-marital dating site

A website that facilitates infidelity has said 18 November is the day of the year that your partner is most likely to cheat on you.

The service Illicit Encounters has even coined today 'Unfaithful Friday' based on the results of a survey it conducted of 300 users.

Illicit Encounters, which claims to have over a million users in the UK, said that 72 per cent of male users admitted to using 18 November as a day to enjoy their extra-marital relationship.

The site also reported 30 per cent more activity in the week leading up to 'Unfaithful Friday', compared to any other week in November or the previous December.

The timing and the spike in infidelity is believed to be due to the advent of (well) Advent.

As the Christmas period behemoth waddles towards families, it leaves very little time for marital affairs.

Christian Grant, a spokesperson for Illicit Encounters explained further:

In the weeks to come, they’ll simply be overwhelmed with nativity plays, Christmas shopping, decorating and of course Christmas and New Year’s. Their kids will have time off from school, and their familial responsibilities will take priority.

One would hope that the guilt of an extra-marital affair is also brought into sharp focus by the amount of time spent with one's family over Christmas.

The same survey also found that 20 per cent of those cheating today will spend the entire weekend together.

It also found out the most popular destinations for a dirty weekend this winter.

• The Cotswold (15 per cent)
• Central London (13 per cent)
• The Lane District (10 per cent)
• Norway (8 per cent)
• Austria (5 per cent)
