Will it be a boy or a girl? Family with 12 sons await new baby

A couple who have 12 sons are expecting their 13th baby – and sticking to their tradition of not finding out in advance whether it is a boy or girl.

However, Jay and Kateri Schwandt said they would be shocked if their long line of male children was broken by the child expected on 9 May.

“If we were to have a girl, I think we would go into shock. It would probably be disbelief,” said Mrs Schwandt.

The couple had their twelfth son, Tucker, in August 2013. Their eldest son is 22. “I love being pregnant,” said Mrs Schwand, of Rockford, Michigan. “I’ve spent half of my life being pregnant. It’s very neat and very special.”
