It is being reported that Twitter has taken a course of action to filter out the widely used hashtags #bisexual and #bisexuality.

Although the hashtag can still be used by users in posts and also as a search term it appears to have been erased in photo, video and news feeds.

Since the anomality was discovered it has been prominently shared by the Bi Pride UK account.

Users from around the world have reported a similar problem.

#Lesbian has also been banned from videos.

The move has been heavily criticised by the LGBT community online.

Speaking to indy100, a Twitter spokesperson confirmed that there was an error with their search engine.

For background, there is no censorship or 'erasure' whatsoever.

There was an error with our search functionality that has now been revolved.
