Fox News presenter gets in a tangle over whether Allah and God are the same

The CIA has released a cache of documents taken from the compound Osama bin Laden was living in at the time of his death, and Gretchen Carlson of Fox News found one detail particularly horrifying.

In the hot take to end all hot takes, Carlson took a look at some of the al-Qaeda recruitment papers which include questions like “Do you wish to execute a suicide operation?” and “Who should we contact if you become a martyr?”, adding:

The most sickening part though is the last line: ‘Praise Allah, lord of all worlds.’ Nope. Not really at all.

When viewers noticed that Carlson’s comment could be construed as, you know, making out that Bin Laden's worst offence was praising Allah, or that Allah is "not really" God at all, she took to Twitter to clarify what she meant:

By the way, as Mediaite noted, this is what Pope John Paul II once told a group of young Muslims in Morocco: “We believe in the same God, the one God, the living God, the God who created the world and brings his creatures to their perfection.”
