There is nothing like a weird weather-based phenomenon to create a sense of hysteria on the Internet.
On Friday, a rare horseshoe cloud appeared in the skies above Battle Mountain, Nevada and everyone was convinced that aliens were invading.
An image of the unusually shaped cloud was taken by local resident Christy Grimes and shared by the National Weather Service (NWS) on Twitter.
The clouds, which are also referred to as moustache clouds, are formed when an updraft mixes with a surrounding area of air thus creating a vortex.
Luckily, the NWS were on hand to provide a more scientific explanation.
Despite this perfectly logical explanation behind the formation, everybody was certain that it was related to some form of alien or UFO activity.
Others felt that it looked like other things, mostly the moustaches of the wrestler Hulk Hogan and the notorious rocker Lemmy.
