Trump claims Martin Gugino, the elderly man Buffalo police shoved to the ground, could be an 'Antifa provocateur'

Over the last two weeks, clips from across the world have shown us disturbing interactions between police and members of the public, particularly as people protest police brutality following the murder of George Floyd.

One of the most shocking viral clips was one which appeared to show Buffalo Police pushing over a 75-year-old man. It’s still not known why they did it, but the elderly man was seen lying on the floor with blood coming from his head.

After initially saying he tripped, four officers were suspended after the footage emerged. Then the story took another dramatic and unsavoury turn when 57 members of Buffalo police force resigned in protest at the men being fired.

Now Trump has waded into the row, which has dominated the headlines over the last few days.

Bizarrely, Trump has suggested that 75-year-old Martin Gugino might be an “Antifa provocateur” and that the whole thing “might be a set up?”

Since protests erupted after Floyd’s death, Trump has announced that he wants to ban anti-fascist protesters by declaring Antifa a “terrorist organiation”. This is despite the fact that it isn’t an official organisation and that even the Klu Klux Klan hasn’t been deemed a terrorist organisation.

Needless to say, anyone who has seen the video would have a very hard time believing it was any sort of set-up. It’s an incredibly distressing watch and Gugino is still in hospital with a cracked skull.

On Twitter, people were furious with Trump.

It just goes to show that there's no situation Trump can't make much worse with a ridiculous conspiracy theory.
