There’s nothing like a bit of Friday morning traffic; with rush hour in full swing on the final day before the weekend, the last thing you need on your way to work is delays.

But that’s exactly what happened in Dundee, East Marketgait at 8:30am after reports from motorists of a lone chicken trying to cross the road.

The chicken was trying to cross the road.

Chicken. Trying. To. Cross. Road.

Tayside Police arrived at the scene, captured the chicken in question and brought it back to the police station, posting an appeal on Facebook:

The chicken, whose owner has not yet been identified, is currently in police custody, and the post read:

Police are appealing for any information as to why the chicken was crossing the road.

The post has been ‘liked’ over 1,000 times, to mixed reactions:

Karen Erma Johnson:

I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned!!

Andrew Kasprzycki DONALD TRUMP:

We will build a big wall to keep illegal chickens from crossing the road. We will have a door for legal chickens.

Bill Barclay:

I think it was Egged on by someone.

But mostly, people want to know: why did the chicken cross the road?

indy100 contacted Tayside police to find out.
