The UK has earned a place in the top 10 best countries for older people to live in, according to a index measuring living standards around the world.

These are the nations that came out on top in the report by HelpAge International and the University of Southampton:

1. Switzerland

2. Norway

3. Sweden

4. Germany

5. Canada

6. Netherlands

7. Iceland

8. Japan

9. United States

10. United Kingdom
