Trump’s still annoyed that people mocked Melania’s Christmas decorations

Former President Donald Trump is still annoyed that his wife Melania’s Christmas decorations were criticised. Hey, the guy holds grudges.

On Sunday, Trump made a speech at the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, and lambasted the media for making what he believed was unfavourable commentary about his wife’s White House Christmas displays.

“I’m thrilled to be here [First Baptist Church] with you all today… I have to just start by wishing everybody a very, very Merry Christmas because it’s a great time of the year,” he said.

Trump said that Melania was the former first lady and was “loved by everybody” but “didn’t get exactly a fair shake.”

“She would make the most beautiful Christmas decorations. And I remember she made these magnificent red trees, and the media said, ‘Oh, that’s terrible.’ I said, ‘Honey, next time, try white.’”

“She made magnificent — remember, the most beautiful you’ve ever seen — white trees. And they said, ‘Oh, that’s terrible.’ I said, the next time, ‘Let’s do it more traditional. Let’s go with green,’” Trump continued.

He also said that they then went with “beautiful green trees” and claimed that they [media] said, “Why wouldn’t you make them white like they used to be?”

Trump further reiterated that Melania is “loved all over” and has a “tremendous heart.”

In 2017, the former first lady swapped out traditional fir trees with white branches.

The following year, she put up red, cranberry-covered trees at the White House, which ended up being mocked for appearing to be covered in blood.

Melania’s Christmas spirit was called into question in 2020 when an audio recording of her complaining about decorating the White House for the occasion leaked.

The audio was from a 2018 conversation that she had with her former friend and advisor Stephanie Winston Wolkoff.

“I’m working my a** off at Christmas stuff, that you know. Who gives a f** about Christmas stuff and decoration?” she can be heard saying on the leaked tapes.

“And then I do it, and I say that I’m working on Christmas, planning for the Christmas. And they say, ‘Oh, what about the children? That they were separated?’ Give me a f***ing break.”

This comment addressed her controversial visit to the border when children were separated from their parents. In that visit, she wore a jacket that said, “I don’t really care. Do u?”

Last week, Trump spoke with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee on Newsmax and claimed that people went through “a long period where people quit saying Merry Christmas” and only started to say the greeting again when he was running the country.
