The TV show Friends is a stone cold classic. It dominated ratings and commands early noughties nostalgia more than any other show.
As such there are many super fans who have spent years contriving wild theories about the characters.
One that caused a stir on social media, involved the show’s zany character Phoebe and it is dark.
As we all know, Phoebe was once homeless before she met her friends and began a new life drinking coffee in Central Perk all day.
However, this Twitter user suggests that Phoebe never left the streets and was actually a Crystal Meth addict.
It deducts that the show was a dream concocted by Phoebe looking through the window of her beloved coffee house.
All 10 seasons were merely her fevered imagination, projecting herself into the lives of the others.
All she ever wanted was … Friends.
The Twitter user wrote.
Naturally this alarmed some people including American writer and TV producer Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of ‘Friends.’
Kauffman told ET Online:
That's the saddest thing I've ever heard.
That's a terrible theory. That's, like, that's like crazy alt-television theory. Wow.
I just think that someone needs a life.
Someone needs a life, that's all I'm saying.
Thankfully this theory isn’t true but there are many others floating about out there on the Internet:
The one where Ross loses custody of Ben.
Ben Geller mysteriously disappears in series eight and never returns.
Don’t worry, Friends theorists have the answer.
Reddit user Smokingcage says there is an obvious explanation- Ross lost custody of Ben.
Duh!
The one where Phoebe and Rachel’s apartment is burned down by porn barons.
Remember when Phoebe and Rachel's apartment burns down and everyone blames Phoebe's candles?
A likely story. It makes much more sense that vengeful porn barons set fire to their place.
Here’s why: In a previous episode Phoebe posed as her sister Ursula and took all her earnings from her appearances in x-rated entertainment videos.
Do you think a porn company will let her get away with that?
No, and neither does one cracked.com user.
Safe to say, that if the super fan theorists had their way then Friends would have been a very different show.
