Ricky Gervais has become a bit predictable, hasn’t he?
Each time he has a new show out, he does media appearances and makes comments designed to stir up controversy. Last time he had a show to promote, he thought it’d be funny to make loads of transphobic “jokes” about Caitlyn Jenner. This time, he’s promoting Afterlife, his newest offering on Netflix.
During an interview Gervais has weighed in on the topic of offence in comedy and debate. Speaking to James O’Brien, Gervais said:
Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.
Gervais knows exactly what he’s doing, so the internet quickly erupted with responses.
Let’s just say that, on the whole, people were unimpressed.
Afterlife has been garnering rave reviews. So it it time he stopped courting controversy?
