Anderson Cooper and Stephen Colbert have been praised for a moving discussion about grief.
The comedian was interviewed by the CNN host and death was explored in a way that’s rarely seen on television. When Colbert was ten years old, he lost his father and his two closest brothers by age in a plane crash.
Colbert is a practising Roman Catholic and used to teach Sunday school. He has often spoken about the importance of his faith when coping with such an unimaginable tragedy at a young age:
I was personally shattered, and then you kind of reform yourself in this quiet, grieving world that was created in the house.
In the video, the pair are remarkably open and frank in their attitude towards a topic that is often deemed taboo. The footage, which has gone viral, was praised by much of the internet and proves there is a space for thoughtful, heartfelt conversations in the modern media landscape.
