There’s something not quite right with this ‘Friday night takeaway’

This might look like a popular Friday night takeaway – but it couldn’t be further from the truth.

The halal snack pack (HSP) is an Aussie kebab shop staple made of doner kebab meat, chips, and various sauces and cheese. When Megan Cann shared her creation to Facebook, people were baffled when they discovered it was actually an incredible birthday cake.

The mum-of-two explained how she used Madeira cake chunks to create the chip base and Coles’ hedgehog slices for the meat. The sauces were replicated with cream for garlic and food-coloured ganache for the chilli sauce.

What’s more impressive, it only took Megan ten minutes to put together.

Megan told Indy100 that she got the inspiration from the Woolies/Coles Mudcakes Hacks Facebook page, where people frequently share their store-bought cake glow ups.

She surprised her 16-year-old son with the cake for his birthday. “I’m not a baker or decorator, so I make it as easy as possible on myself,” she said.

“I thought a HSP cake would be funny as it’s the go-to takeaway for my son and his mates when they go out,” Megan said. “It was late when I showed my son the cake, he had been at basketball training. He laughed and thought it looked great.” The cake was so realistic that it prompted her son to order in the real HSP as a birthday treat.

Megan was shocked when she received an influx of positive responses online, “I really didn’t expect it,” she said.

One said, “This definitely had me fooled!”

“Omg this looks so real that I don’t think my brain would comprehend I was eating a dessert,” one user commented, while another added: “Had me convinced! looks awesome!”

Another spoke on behalf of literally everyone and said, “Took me a minute to do figure out what was going on.”

“I actually thought this was a HSP - what a brilliant idea. Well done,” another Facebook user added.
