This awkward dad moment at a midterms party is going viral for the funniest reason

There are few things worse and more uncomfortable than seeing a creepy guy trying to chat up a woman and get his just deserts.

That's exactly what Twitter thought they had seen take place at the midterm election party for Texas's Republican Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw.

During a local TV broadcast, a viewer picked up on a moment between a young woman and an older man in a red tie.

The clip sees the woman react with shock at something he said, prompting her and another woman to quickly make their exit.

At the time of writing, the video has been viewed more than 16 million times but no one could figure out what he said.

However, the truth is that this is a lot more innocent than what it first appeared to be.

After a plea from the Twitter user who originally posted the video, a Texas student named Ellie Delgado claimed that it was her dad in the clip, asking her about a woman he was interested in dating.

Delgado then confirmed this in another tweet and asked everyone to just chill out.

Even Crenshaw himself stepped in to calm everyone down.
