TikToker criticised for ‘putting someone else’s room number on hotel bar check’

A woman on TikTok is facing a barrage of criticism after appearing to write down a random room number on a hotel bar check to avoid being charged - but she insists it was all a joke.

In a video uploaded by the TikToker Morgan Vega (@morganvega843), the $22 bar bill could be seen, as audio featuring the words "I know something you don't. I know something you will never know" was played.

The onscreen caption read: "Putting a random room number at the hotel bar I'm at so I don't have to pay.”

But the woman behind the video said it was just a fun TikTok stunt for clout, and she was shocked by the response.

The clip has been viewed more than 100,000 times, and was quickly met with criticism from those who said she shouldn’t have gone to the bar if she didn’t intend to pay.

"If you're broke just say that," someone wrote.

"Don't care if it's a joke; if you can't afford to go out to eat, Don't Go Out," another added.

Someone else, who claimed to work for the hotel, wrote: "Hey there! Joke or not, I do work for the hotel, and we are looking into this."

In response, Vega posted a follow-up video in which she said the video was a joke.

"I'm only going to respond to the hate comments on this TikTok one last time. Because a lot of y'all do not understand me at all because you do not f****** know me. Social media is a joke...” she said.

Her bio reads: “My TikToks are for clout relax.”

She reiterated her stance when Indy100 reached out for comment, saying: “I was taken aback by some of the backlash because it was genuinely a joke and nothing more.

“I’ve seen TikToks with jokes that were way worse than mine. I wasn’t really offended by the jokes, just shocked that so many people were quick to judge off a TikTok. It’s to the point now I just agree with whatever comment they make because I know who I am as a person.”
