Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer become instant meme after border wall speech rebuttal

After president Trump's border wall address on Tuesday evening, the speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and senate minority leader Chuck Schumer were quick to hit back.

During his prime-time address, the president spent much of his time railing against immigration, as well as attempting to reaffirm his demand for $5.7 billion in order to get his much maligned border wall built and to end the government shutdown.

The address was so riddled with misrepresentations of the truth that even Fox News condemned it with a savage fact check, disproving each of Trump's points using government statistics.

Needless to say, after it was delivered, Pelosi and Schumer were quick to hit back, issuing a joint address.

Pelosi slammed Trump's behaviour during the shutdown, saying:

Much of what we've heard from president Trump during this senseless shutdown has been full of misinformation and even malice.

The president has chosen fear. We want to start with the facts.

Schumer agreed with Pelosi, saying:

Tonight – and throughout this debate and his presidency – President Trump has appealed to fear, not facts. Division, not unity.

He added:

This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear, and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration.

Many people on social media were quick to notice how Schumer and Pelosi resembled parents talking to their children on the 'naughty step', and they became an instant meme:
