Dr Anthony Fauci expertly shut down a Republican Congressman after he complained about Covid restrictions.
Sporting a dashing face mask emblazoned with test tubes, the infectious disease expert schooled Republican Jim Jordan after he bemoaned the nation’s “lost liberty” and “freedom” and demanded to know when coronavirus measures would be lifted.
Responding during a House subcommittee hearing on Thursday, Fauci said the country could return to normal – with a relaxation of social-distancing and face mask use – “when we get the level of infection in this country low enough.”
“My message, Congressman Jordan, is to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as we possibly can to get the level of infection in this country low that it is no longer a threat. That is when,” he said.
But, undeterred and wearing a face mask that kept falling below his nose, Jordan bellowed: “What is low enough? Give me a number.”

Fauci replied: “You’re indicating liberty and freedom, I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to the hospital.
“Right now we have about 60,000 infections a day which is a very large risk for a surge. We’re not talking about liberties; we’re talking about a pandemic that has killed 56,000 Americans.”
Reacting to the exchange, Twitter users praised the scientist for his performance:
Later in the proceedings, Democratic congresswoman Maxine Waters intervened and told Jordan to “shut his mouth”, after he continued to rant at the health expert despite it being her turn to speak.
The message here is clear: don’t mess with Fauci unless you want to get burned.
