Things that make people proud to be British in post-Brexit Britain

If there’s one thing you can rely on the British for, it’s our innate mastery of self-deprecation.

An Ipsos Mori poll asked people to pick the best and worst characteristics of Britons, with some predictable results.

For instance, the best traits included a good sense of humour, good manners, and being friendly. The worst traits were, quelle surprise: Drinking too much, being ignorant of other cultures, and complaining a lot.

The poll, which surveyed 1,052 people, also found that six in ten British citizens would rather be a citizen of Britain than of any other on Earth.

Older people tend to feel most strongly, with 71 per cent of 55 to 75 year olds saying they would rather be a citizen of Britain.

Things got patriotic when the question was posed as to what exactly made Britons proud to be, well… British.

The NHS topped the list, while “our history” and the Royal Family followed at number two and number three respectively.

Also included in the top 10 were British culture and arts (5), the free press (7), and the BBC (8).
