Ed Balls' jive is the unifying political force we all need right now

Ever since the results of the EU referendum, British politics has been in a bit of state.

Theresa May’s 'Brexit Brainstorm' did little reassure the Brexit camp or the pro-EU supporters of a definitive plan, leading to confusion for the public.

Enter Ed Balls: while his political career has been in stasis since the loss of his Morley and Outwood seat in West Yorkshire, he might be igniting a career in show business.

The former shadow chancellor and meme inspiration Balls decided to swap his suit for dancing shoes on Saturday when he appeared as a contestant for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing...

He's since become a national sensation...

A 'legend' if you will...

Balls was paired with Russian professional dancer Katya Jones during the show's launch, and donned a glittery shirt.

And while not everyone shared the unifying sentiments...

Most people seemed to celebrate the temporary sense of community that Balls' flailing dancing elicited

There's one thing that we can all get behind: the sheer ridiculousness of a dancing Ed Balls.
