Nicca Triefenbach explains she once felt like a “circus freak” for having two vaginas.
When she was 13 years old, Triefenbach realised something was wrong. She noticed she was bleeding a lot, and said her period pains were “intolerable” and left her unable to properly function.
Triefenbach, who also has two uteruses and two cervixes, said when she found out what was causing her symptoms, she felt like a “freak of nature”.
But after three miscarriages, Triefenbach decided to take action. In her darkest moments after her third miscarriage, when she had been bleeding for six months, she told Barcroft TV:
You have moments where you don’t want to live but you know you have to, so staying strong is all I could do.
So, five months ago, Triefenbach decided to have a hysterectomy.
At first I was okay with it, but the feeling I felt knowing I couldn’t have my own children… I felt empty, I wasn’t fulfilling what I wanted to do.
But she says her quality of life now is "fantastic," and that she hopes to adopt soon.
