Fans of actor Amanda Seyfried have reacted after she refused to apologise for comments she made about Charlie Kirk.
On 10 September, controversial right-wing political activist Kirk was shot in the neck and killed on a university campus in Utah while taking part in a debating event.
Not long after his death, Seyfried commented on a social media post that had rounded up some of his most controversial remarks in which he insulted black women, immigrants and birth control.
Seyfried responded: “He was hateful.” Her comment sparked some backlash at the time.
Seyfried explained her stance further in a 17 September Instagram post, writing: I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable.”
In a recent cover interview with Who What Wear, Seyfried stood by her comment and said she wouldn’t apologise for making it.
“I’m not f**king apologising for that. I mean, for f**k’s sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course,” Seyfried said.
“Amanda Seyfried has bigger balls than the entire Republican House of Representatives,” someone wrote on X/Twitter in response to her remarks.
Another said: “Thank god someone with a f**king spine.”
Someone else said: “Love how she’s refusing to bow to cancel culture.”
“Good for her. More courage than a lot of the establishment,” wrote another.
