For Thanksgiving, Donald Trump has jetted off to his luxury Florida beachside resort Mar-a-Lago to spend it with wealthy paying guests, while Barack Obama has been doing something else this festive season.
Yesterday, ex-president Barack Obama surprised volunteers at the Greater Chicago Food Depository and helped out preparing meals for the hungry and homeless this Thanksgiving, after landing in the city to attend the Obama Foundation Summit, a gathering of community leaders and students.
Obama entered the building in a low key White Sox baseball cap and already wearing latex gloves, before diving in to help the volunteers bag up potatoes for the meal.
Speaking to one young volunteer, he said:
You guys are doing such a great job helping out.
I’m really proud of you.
Obama has made it a regular habit to help out the needy during the holiday period, and he's often accompanied by his wife and daughters.
In 2015, while still in office, Mr Obama was joined by the whole first family to serve dinner to the local homeless population and veterans at Friendship Place Homeless Center in Washington DC.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository is a non-profit member of 'Feeding American', which works with a network of 700 partner agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to distribute 159,000 meals every single day.
The food depository posted a thankful message for Obama to its Twitter account, accompanied by a video of Obama helping out:
We believe no one should go hungry, especially this time of year, and that’s why we’re working to address the root causes of hunger in Chicago and Cook County.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump, the current president, has jetted off to his luxury members-only resort in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, where he will bump shoulders with wealthy, paying guests.
He boarded Air Force One on Tuesday with the rest of his family, and was joined there by other members of the Trump clan, including Eric and Lara Trump, and his daughter Tiffany, who's taking a break from law school at Georgetown University.
This is just one more telling illustration of the difference between the two men.
Obama, we miss you.
