Gwyneth Paltrow, who has starred in seven Marvel movies, has teased fans by suggesting that she doesn’t know anything about the new MCU series Hawkeye.
The series, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, started streaming on Disney+ last week and is already winning rave reviews from dedicated Marvel fans.
However, despite being a veteran of the franchise, having appeared in the first-ever MCU movie, as Pepper Potts in 2008’s Iron Man, Paltrow has suggested that she’s never even heard of Hawkeye.
Someone asked her “have you watched the Hawkeye series?” only for the 49-year-old to ask in reply “No, what is that?”

Now it’s debatable whether Paltrow is being serious here or is having a joke on MCU fans but she does have a history of not knowing much about Marvel movies.
Back in 2019, when appearing on Jon Favreau’s Netflix series The Chef Show, she was asked about when they both appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, Paltrow seemed to have zero recollection of ever starring in the 2017 film.

Shortly after this, it emerged that she had to ask her publicist who Sebastian Stan, aka The Winter Soldier, was at the premiere of Infinity War, despite her literally appearing in the movie with him.

In 2019, the actor told Elle: “It is confusing because there are so many Marvel movies, and to be honest, I haven’t seen very many of them. It’s really stupid and I’m sorry, but I’m a 47-year-old mother.”
Despite her obliviousness to movies that she has literally appeared in, Paltrow does appear to have her finger on the pulse of some aspects of pop culture. Another person asked her if she had listened to the new version of Taylor Swift’s Red to which she responded: “Yes do you think I live under a rock love it.”
Never change Gwyneth, never change.
