Trump claims USA is turning 'communist' and 'torturing' people

Donald Trump falsely claimed to 6 January defendants that America is "turning communist" in a new video on social media.

The former president has promised to build his next campaign around those being treated "unconstitutionally" for facing charges over the riots.

"They've skipped over socialism", he says in the video, which was screened to the families of those facing prison time during a Mar-a-Lago event.

"Can’t let it happen, we're going to stop it, and we're going to win."
